Pros: Image quality, zoom range, good colours, stabilizer, strong L-series version, sharpness, autofocus

Cons: "Only" F4

Opinion: It is in use as my standard zoom lense, very good working with APS-C and also FF. Best sharpness results with a aperture range between f5.6 and f8. The lense is my first choice for travel. In my opinion there must be more aperture possible than F4. My proposal for a new version of the lense would be F2.8 At the moment I don't see a better lense of Canon for this zoom range. Only the EF 24-70 2.8 L USM II is interesting, but it costs more than double of the price of the 24-105.

Pros: Construction, robustness, price of used, tropicalization, good handyman

Cons: Distortion at f4 angles, chromatic aberrations, visgnettature

Opinion: You can see that it's an old, well-built and solid conception lens, although I got a little dust under the lens. On the other, in contrast, in f4 the angles are distorted and not sharp, if you photograph in the backlight there are numerous chromatic aberrations on the lines of the images very contrasting, tending to purple, often correctable in post, but not totally. Stabilization is discreet, but I wouldn't trust it very much. Also if you point down the barrel stretches. In conclusion it is a good all-rounder lens that is worth putting in the backpack if you do not want to carry so much weight, because you manage to do a little bit of everything, from the landscape to the portrait, not excelling at anything though. It is an entry level of the L series

Pros: Fantastic sharpness, constant f.4, l-series worthy construction, excellent color rendering, non-existent AC, AF very quiet, price of used

Cons: barrel stretching

Opinion: I read sometimes some reviews that leave me basic, maybe I was lucky in the purchase, but for 400 euros on the second-hand market I brought home a lens that is giving me emotions and that is making me more and more passionate about photography. I use it without problems on the M50. The images have a sharpness that I had never seen, (I wonder if it is possible that the 24-70 is really better, and especially how) excellent color rendering and non-existent aberrations. Tropicalized then you use it without any fear, it is stabilized well (I snapped freehand up to 1/4 day without micromove), the noise of the focus is almost non-existent (in the videos you do not feel right). What to say. he is the handyman I have always wanted and always looked for, I don't think he will ever leave my kit. UNICO neo annoying, the stretching of the barrel tilting the lens. Without filter it lampshade to me does not happen, but already with a UV unfortunately happens. Too bad. But it won't be enough to make me change my mind. Also tested with speedboosters on the M50, which becomes almost 24-105mm effectivev8 and f.2.8 constant, the diversity doubles and the image quality and sharpness still remain very good

Pros: Sharpness, L-series, stabilized, USM, great focal excursion, constant f/4, lampshade included, excellent chromaticism, versatile, all-rounder, tropicalized.

Cons: When it points down unfortunately it stretches, slight 24mm vignette, external zoom and not inside the optics.

Opinion: It's my all-rounder lens that I prefer so much that, sometimes, I forget I have the 70-200. What about it? It is an optic that allows me to shoot any photographic situation well and I am particularly proud of it, despite having several years on my shoulders being on the market since 2005. One thing that you can't see and unfortunately has, is the stretching of optics when the same points down. Another thing that I consider negative (and wanting also unprofessional to see), is the zoom: if from 24mm I go to 105mm, the zooming takes place external and visible. Overall a good lens of which I can not complain: sharp, chromatic beauty, versatile and all-rounder.

Pros: Excellent sharpness; Excellent distortion correction; contained chromatic aberration; Extreme versatility; Tropicalization AF very fast.

Cons: Slight vignetting visible at the corners; Weight and footprint; When tilted downwards, the zoom tends to stretch towards 105 mm... You can fix it with the classic elastic method.

Opinion: I own this zoom from 2012 and I always carry it with me for its extreme versatility, coupled with my EOS 5D Mk II. I can leave the other lenses at home, but that always follows me. Excellent the focal excursion: it guarantees an interesting angle of field at 24 mm, while up to 105 mm manages to cover most of the photographic situations. A bit cumbersome and heavy, however it gives a nice impression of robustness and solidity. The ring nuts are very fluid and flow on a regular basis. The stabilizer is sufficient. Useful lens in the close up since the slightest distance between front and subject lens can fall to about 25 cm (45 cm from the sensor), but the bokeh leaves it to be desired (it is still a zoom). At the minimum distance a reproduction ratio of about 1:4 is obtained. It is necessary to be careful in the photographs against the light, as there may be annoying internal reflections. Since the L series you should expect more, but overall it is a great goal, all-rounder, satisfactory. Aberrations are easily correctable with the most popular post-production software (I use Lightroom).
